FRONT OF YOUR PAPER

STUDENTS · FAMILIES · TEACHERS

Follow the same five steps as the paper.

We are finding an equation that describes a situation. The slope m tells the change in y for each 1 unit of x. The y-intercept b tells the value of y when x is zero.

  1. Read the situation and two points.
  2. Find the slope.
  3. Use one complete point to find b.
  4. Write the equation with numbers for m and b.
  5. Check the equation with another point.

Next reveals one idea. Nothing advances to the next idea by itself. Use Replay and Pause motion to follow a moving number.

The paper cue tells you whether to watch, explain, or write. The extra fraction review comes after Front Step 3; Return to Step 4 brings you back.

For families: pause and ask, “Which number replaces this letter, and why?” The student paper is the same v1.2 sheet used in class.
