About Mr. Jackson
I teach mathematics, personal finance, and product innovation and design. I want students to leave my classroom able to use what they know: solve problems, explain their thinking, and produce work they can stand behind.
In my classroom
All required learning and practice take place during our time together in class. I plan that time around clear explanations, worked examples, deliberate practice, feedback, and opportunities to demonstrate understanding.
I pair high expectations with careful instruction and individual coaching. Students work step by step, document their reasoning, correct mistakes, and demonstrate what they can do independently. They are expected to think, write, persist, and take responsibility for the quality of their work.
Teaching and industry
I served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force and later participated in Army ROTC at Sacramento State, earning Airborne jump wings. After graduating, I began teaching in 1991 and continued until early 2000.
I then moved into engineering software, first at Autodesk and later at Dassault Systèmes, before returning to teaching. Those experiences shape the habits I bring into my classroom: build carefully, check your work, communicate clearly, stay dependable, and finish the job.
